As tough a round of golf as you’ll ever want to play today. The wind was BLASTING at some crazy speed 30-40 MPH every ball on the green was wiggling at approach. My putter would not go back and forth straight I would need to time the wind movements.

If someone would have told me that TODAY I would out play major championship winners: Bob Tway, Nick Faldo, Mark Brooks, Jose Marie Olazabal, Jean Van De Velde (ooops I forgot he didn’t win at Carnoustie) Larry Mize, Fred Couples, Jeff Sluman, Sandy Lyle, and I tied Corey Pavin.

All of these golfers are WAY better than me, and always have been. But to enjoy the moment as an amateur playing in an event like this is VERY cool.

I made epic par save after par save. I hit the tee ball very well, and my approach shots were not very good. My short game was superb, and the putting was like nothing you could ever imagine with the wind blowing you, your putter and your ball.

My driver 9 iron to ten feet on 18 for eagle was memorable. Even though I just missed the eagle putt, my day ended on a very happy note.

I am lucky and privileged to the 9’s to be competing in an event like this. I will fight hard again in the high winds and driving sideways rain to reach goal number 2, make the cut!!!

I am having the time of my life!!

Stay Tuned

Side Saddle putting is very tough in high winds. Good tip however on the soft right arm!!

    • Thanks Chris,
Was a bitter sweet finish as I came from 8 back to take a two shot lead for Silver Medal with 9 holes to go, very tough conditions and a lot of pressure did me in. I had an amazing experience however, thanks for reading the blog!!
      All the best,

  5. Randy,
Congrats on making the cut! Now chase down Lutz!

    • Thanks Bob,
Made the mistake of checking the Lutz score after I shot -3 on my first nine. I was two ahead of him at the time as he was +8. I then made a triple bogey, followed by two three putt bogeys. This game is very tough under this kind of situation. I either need to get better, or except disappointment like this!!
      Thanks for reading my Blog
      All the best,
