Cory McElyea of Santa Cruz defeated Bryson Dechambeau of Clovis 3 & 2 to capture the 102nd California State Amateur

Two young stars from the NCGA faced off today in the finals of the 102nd California State Amateur, and Mc Elyea defeated Dechambeau 3&2 to bring the title back to the NCGA side of the fence. With so many young great players from both Northern and Southern California, this had the look and feel of a college event. Congratulations to both these guys for having a great event, but certainly Cory has had a June to remember by qualifying for the US Open, and then coming home last Sunday to compete and win the State Amateur.

Coming up Monday the US Senior Open Qualifier- Stay tuned!
