Today started the 54 holes NCGA Stroke play championship that will be competed over 54 holes at Poppy Hills. The course was in pretty good shape and the greens were perhaps the best I’ve seen them. The NCGA did a great job getting this course ready.

I must admit I was expecting more disappointing play, as my practice yesterday didn’t go very well. The biggest factor is I am not making the putts like I used to (Like Tiger, despite his 3 wins this year). But today on my second hole #11 I made a tidy 8 footer for par that kept me from going into the black (over par) I then started to hit the ball better, gain some of my old confidence and by the time I turned 9 holes with a -3 33 I decided it was time to stop the mid round implosions. After another birdie on #2 (my 11th hole) I went to -4 for the day, made a great save at #3 for par, and seemed to get some of my MOJO back. After missing several short birdie putts, I came to my last hole -4 and without a bogey. I had only the relatively easy par 5 ninth hole to play. Unfortunately I was unable to complete the bogey free round and made a mess of this birdie hole with a fat bogey 6 to end my day and round. The good news is there is 36 holes to go, and I feel like I can finally compete after a few months off going sideways.

Tomorrow will be a 8:40 start off #1 and I hope to get it into the red on the front nine and keep it going on the back. score and article courtesy of the NCGA below- STAY TUNED
