Okay here we go, I’m going to give you all 18 holes at the Olympic Lake course with an idea of how these holes will play in this years open.
Before I start I want to ask any of you social media experts a few questions about how we can maximize our exposure to Facebook friends and via Twitter, greatly appreciated if you could give me your input via the comment option here on the blog.
Okay back to #1 at OC Lake, the video clip is over 14 min long, and will be the longest video clip by far. So please be patient as this was our starting hole and I got a bit carried away. For spectators I’d say number one is not a great hole as you’ll not be able to easily get to the other main holes where you can see action on several holes from one vantage point. The weather should be quite nice the second week of June, and this course is going to be a real championship test. Number one will not be the toughest par four on the course despite being the longest par 4 at over 500yards long, it will be one of the easier fairway to hit with the slope of the fairway and the prevailing wind conditions. The players will be faced with many options on the second shot with the cross bunkers being approx 60 yards from the green, the players can use the slope over the bunker to chase their ball onto the green, or they can try to fly their shot to the front of the green. This green can get very firm, and I’d expect that will be the case during the open. I think this will be the 3rd or 4th toughest par 4 behind the back tee on #11 (new dual tee being used for#16 at 670 and #11 at 460) will make this hole VERY tough, hole #6 will also play tougher than #1 with a tougher drive and approach shot to a green with a very steep false front. So check out the video and stay tuned for hole #2 a real beauty!!
