After battling a cold and wet day at Mayacama, 4 players qualified for the match play portion of the event. Originally the event was scheduled to have 4 matches on Sat with 4 players getting a “BYE” the tournament committee changed the format due to the inclement weather and played 54 holes of gross, before cutting to the low 4 for two matches on Sunday. I retained the #1 seed with my ugly and frustrating 78 and I’ll play my friend Hank McCusker (228) who shot a decent 76 today. In the other match #2 seed Michael Harrington (225) will play Barry Logar (227).
With the rain expected to come down all evening the conditions are going to be tough, especially the long and wet rough. After 36 holes (or more) tomorrow I will be ready for a break from golf for a few days. I will need to win my 1st match to play in the finals in the afternoon.
Stay tuned for final results tomorrow
