2010 Crump Cup Final- McCoy over Rowe

Today Mike McCoy first won his semi final match against Kevin Marsh on the 22nd hole (4th hole) and then outlasted Scott Rowe in the final match 2&1 to win his 4th Crump Cup at Pine Valley. Earlier Scott Rowe defeated the medalist Michael Muehr 1 up to advance to the final match.

After playing Mike earlier in the quarterfinals I felt Mike was the favorite to win with the precision of his game clicking in all areas of the game. I’m not sure Mike made his 6:45 flight heading to San Francisco as he is also heading to Mayacama for the USGA State Team Championship for the Iowa team.

Under cloudy skies the two final matches where played in softer conditions as the much needed rain finally came in.

Coming next USGA STATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP starts on Tuesday!

  1. Randy, Great to meet you at the Crump last week. Your site is terrific. Play well at Team Championship this week. Bill Jeremiah

  2. No- Mike didn’t make his 6:45pm flight to San Francisso. His match ended at about 5:15pm- great match though.

Mike was in control of the match at it looked like he could close Rowe out on 15 or 16. Scott fought hard but as you said Mike was in total control of his game. I watched just about every shot and don’t remember any loose shots.

BTW- great blog! Thanks for having the Crumb results. They can be hard to find and I live 5 mins away!
